Four iF awards for Ottobock Products

With the Triton prosthetic foot, the 3R93 therapy knee joint and the Genu Sensa knee support, no less than three Ottobock products have been recognised with the iF product design award 2012.
Carbon fibre woven prepreg, a high-performance fibre composite material developed by Ottobock, also received the iF material design award.
The iF product design award is one of the most renowned design competitions worldwide. It is presented in 16 different categories, including medicine, telecommunication and industry. Submitted products are evaluated by the jury based on criteria such as design quality, workmanship, choice of materials, functionality, safety and brand value. Out of a total of 2,923 entries, 863 managed to convince the jury and received the iF label as a symbol of outstanding design.
The jury of the iF material design award chose Ottobock carbon fibre woven prepreg from among 97 product submissions. Carbon fibre woven prepreg is used in orthopaedics technology, for example for the fabrication of very lightweight and high-strength orthoses as well as prosthetic sockets, and offers numerous processing advantages: thanks to its good specific strength properties, it is ideal for functional lightweight construction and permits the fabrication of customised, rigid and partly flexible devices. The thermal properties with particularly high setting temperatures speed up processing and thereby save valuable time.
The winners of this year's iF design awards will be shown in the iF design exhibitions at CeBIT in Hanover, in the HafenCity of Hamburg and in Haikou, China. They will also be presented in the iF online exhibition on the internet: http://exhibition.ifdesign.de/index_en
