Antibacterial substances with different action principles are consolidated under the Skinguard® Technology family brand. They offer numerous advantages to the user.
The innovative Skinguard® Technology is used in liners, thermoplastics, and the Sensa Line active bandages, among others. The advantages are obvious: Microscopically small particles with an antibacterial effect prevent bacteria, and therefore odours, from multiplying. In this way Skinguard® Technology improves hygiene and ensures comfort and healthy skin. You can use Skinguard® Technology in many areas, such as leg prosthetics (liners, test sockets, prosthetic inner sockets, soft inner sockets), in upper limb prosthetics (prosthetic inner sockets) and in orthotics (AFO, spinal orthoses, active bandages).
Skinguard® Technology was subjected to internationally recognised risk assessment procedures for people and the environment. The skin-compatible effect of the antibacterial substance was also proven in dermatological tests.
Thermoplastics
Thermoplastics with antibacterial properties protect the skin and prosthetic socket from a broad range of different micro-organisms and lead to a significant reduction in odour. In this manner the antibacterial substance, silver, ensures the long life of the socket, wearer comfort, and healthy skin. Besides the proven thermoplastics with antibacterial effect, we also offer new antibacterial plastics such as the antibacterial ThermoLyn® rigid, the antibacterial ThermoLyn® soft, and the ThermoLyn® PP-C SilverShield®.
Liners
Skinguard® Technology SIL liners are ideally suited to users with a low to medium activity level who place a lot of value on a durable silicone material. What is new is that the Skinguard® Technology SIL liner now includes the new and effective additive Sanitized®. The benefits of this innovative technology are protection from bacterial attack and odour formation as well as clearly improved hygiene.
