Lumbar pain, neck tension, lumbago or vertebral disc prolapse – according to health statistics, nearly two thirds of all Germans suffer from back pain. The most common causes include wrongly applied strain and too little movement.
Whether it is in the office or in leisure time – people are spending more and more time in a sitting position. Persistent forced postures at the computer or heavy physical work can trigger back pain just as much as wrong sitting furniture, mattresses or shoes.
The vicious circle of back pain
Back pain often ends in a vicious circle: Many persons with acute pain are afraid of every movement and try to stay as immobile as possible. However this rigid posture may lead to new malpositions. The back musculature is increasingly weakened and the functionality of the locomotor apparatus decreases. Further pain is the consequence.
Bandages soothe back pain
In most cases, back pain subsides within a few days or weeks; special support and back bandages offer effective support. They stabilise the back and direct the pelvis forward, straightening the spine. The pain subsides, and mobility increases again. However, movement and strengthening the back musculature with back-friendly sports types such as Nordic Walking, swimming or biking can also relieve back pain.
